PARIS, (SANA)_ The French newspaper " Le Monde" , in the framework of media interest in President Bashar al-Assad's visit to France, highlighted the Syrian policy and the situation in the region. "
President al-Assad is confident of himself, a modest, fond of discussing ideas and good at the art of listening before making a decision and knows how to bet, " The paper said in a report published Friday, adding that President al-Assad gained the bet in international policies.
It reminded of Henry Kissinger's famed formula: " In the Middle East, starting a war is impossible without Egypt, and establishing peace is impossible without Syria."
" President al-Assad opposed the U.S. invasion on Iraq based on lies and falsehoods… He was right… He defended his country against the American accusations regarding the borders with Iraq wondering: " If the United States is unable to control its border with Mexico, despite its greatness, how Syria is asked to close its borders with Iraq? "
The paper said: " Syria, which was besieged for three years, managed to lift the siege and return to the world stage."
This report comes in the context of the French media wide interest in visit of President al-Assad to Paris and the scheduled Syrian-French summit. The President has made press interviews with several French newspapers and with radio and T.V. channels in which a number of French politicians participated to spoke about the important role of Syria in achieving stability in the region.
Meanwhile, Agence France Presse stressed that the Syrian-French Summit in the French Elysee Palace is significance, especially with regard to the relations between Paris and Damascus, pointing out to failure of attempts to isolate Syria.
