Damascus, (SANA)- Minister of Information Dr. Mohsen Bilal underlined Syria's pivotal regional and international role, pointing out that holding the latest Arab summit in Damascus and its resolutions were in the service of the Arab issues.
In an interview with al-Jaseera TV satellite station Saturday, the Minister said Syria has been playing an active role on the international arena, pointing out in this regard to the latest successful visit of President al-Assad to France.
Dr. Bilal stressed that Syria has been working hard to restore the Arab solidarity.
He said Syria deals with Lebanon as a sisterly country, pointing out to the presence of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council for Coordination and Cooperation.
The Minister added that Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem will carry an invitation to the Lebanese President Michel Suleiman to visit Syria.
He added that the world has been waiting the next U.S. presidential election, hoping it will bring forth a more understanding administration and more openness to the peace.
