Damascus, (SANA)-President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas stressed importance of coordination and consultations with Syria over all the issues of the region, particularly the Palestinian issue and the peace process.
In a statement to reporters upon arriving at Damascus International Airport Saturday evening, Mr. Abbas said "it's our duty to brief the Syrian brothers in details on the Palestinian track and the negotiations on it… and get briefed by them on the indirect Turkish-mediated negotiations between Syria and Israel."
Answering a question on the Palestinian reconciliation, President Abbas said there were efforts being exerted in Cairo and reached to the level of possibility of issuing a statement to be followed by a comprehensive meeting of the Palestinian factions. A subsequent report will be submitted to the presidency of the Arab Summit which will issue an Arab resolution or take stance over the reconciliation on the basis of the Yemeni initiative which has been adopted as the initiative of the Arab Summit.
President Abbas had already arrived in Damascus on a visit to Syria during which he will hold talks with Syrian officials on the latest developments on the Palestinian arenas and the conciliation efforts among the Palestinian faction.
