Minister of Economy Calls on Belgian Investors to Invest in Syria

Damascus, (SANA) – Minister of Economy and Trade Dr. Amer Housni Lutfi on Wednesday called on  Belgian businessmen and investors  to invest in Syria due to the unique investment opportunities.

During his meeting with a Belgian delegation from the Arab-Belgian Chamber of Commerce, including representatives of 26 Belgian companies, Dr. Lutfi underlined the developments in Syrian economy during the past few years, pointing out to the issuing of numerous legislations and laws to meet advancement in economic fields in the world.

He stressed that the process of adopting the social market economy requires more efforts on the social side, adding that Syria still uses traditional methods to preserve its economy like maintaining a set interest rate.

For their part, Secretary General of the Arab-Belgian Chamber of Commerce Kaisar Hijazi and the accompanying delegation affirmed their interest in boosting the standing cooperation with Syria in economic, commercial and investment fields and their desire to hold investment projects in Syria.

The meeting was attended by Belgium's Ambassador in Damascus Mr. Dirk Loncke.
