Cairo, (SANA) – Syrian movies and radio and television programs received several awards at the 14th Cairo Arab Media Festival, including the Golden Creativity Award which was awarded to Syrian director Ali Safar for his documentary "Buried under the Dust of Others."
The half-hour documentary details the life of Syrian poet Ismail al-Amoud, a pioneer in prose poetry during the 1940s. The documentary is directed by Ali Safar and produced by the state-run Syrian Satellite Channel.
In the television and radio categories, Syria won the Golden Creativity Award for the work team of "Red Line: Honor Crimes," the Golden Creativity Award for the work team of "A Sound in Memory" program, Best Radio Drama for "Ya Sater," Best Open Time Program for "Sabah al-Ward," Best Radio Chat Show for "File of the Week," Best Radio Investigative Reporting for "Spirit of the Law or Lives of People?," and Best Short Film for "Next Station."
The Best Script Award was awarded to late writer Mamdouh Adawan for the movie "Dance of the Crow," while Actor Fayez Kazak received the Golden Creativity Award for his role in "Next Station." The Best Montage Award was awarded to Jihad Khaddour for "Dance of the Crow."
In the drama category, the Best Comedy Awarded was given to "Days of Childishness," with its director Ma'amoun al-Bounni receiving the Best Director award and its writer Hakam al-Baba receiving the Best Script award.
The Best Actor in a Lead Role award was granted to Bassem Yakhour, the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award was awarded to Andrei Skaff, while Rana Abyad received the Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in "Lawrence of Arabia: The Deception."
In social drama category, Mohammad al-A'as received the Golden Creativity Award for Best Script for "Night and Men," with Firas Ibrahim winning Best Actor for his role in the same program.
Actress Sulaf Fawakherji also received the Golden Creativity Award for her performance in the series "Asmahan," an Egyptian-Syrian joint production.
