Damascus, (SANA)-  The Damascus-based Arab Sports Women Association (ASWA), holding its General Assembly's 4^th Session on Sunday, discussed the proper way for promoting its activities and participation in Arab and international relevant events.

Opening the Session, Member of the Regional Leadership of al-Baath Arab Socialist party Ms. Shahinaz Fakoush called for enhancing the role sport women, spreading the culture of sports and boosting it in every day behavior.

Ms. Fakoush expressed hope the ASWA would give priority to preparing for an Arab women conference to serve as basis for world presence and activities to portray the real image of Arab sports women and their contribution in everyday life.

Chairman of the General Federation of Sports in Syria Faissal al-Bassri praised the role of Arab sports women and capabilities to make progress and victories in Arab and international activities.

The Association was established in 1998, and groups sports women from Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Qatar, Algeria, Iraq, Bahrain and Syria.
