Damascus, (SANA) – The Syrian National Football Team will play on Wednesday in its first qualifying matches for World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
The team will play against Iran in Tehran among the fifth group of the Asian Cup Qualifications, which also includes the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
The Syrian team's performance in its preparation matches against Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and China promises good results in the qualifications. The preparation phase included a closed training camp, which included a training course covering technical aspects.
The Syrian team defeated Iran once in Tehran in the 973 qualifications, with other matches ending with a draw in the qualifications of 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006.
