Damascus, (SANA) – Minister of Agriculture Adel Safar met on Monday IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) Director of Regional Projects Abdelhamid al-Abdul, and reviewed with him IFAD's projects in Syria and the possibility of establishing new projects, particularly projects of modern irrigation.
Safar stressed the importance of the agricultural projects finances by IFAD in Syria, including Jabal al-Hus project, affirming the ministry's readiness to remove all obstacles facing these projects.
For his part, al-Abduli pointed out to the organization's project in Syria, such as Jabal al-Hus project, agricultural development in the southern, coastal and central area and the rural development project in Idleb, which should develop these regions and enhance their production.
The Ministry of Agriculture had presented a number of projects that the organization can contribute to, including a project for using laser to prepare lands for modern irrigation equipment, the project of mountain lakes for collecting water in the coastal region, supporting NPM labs and providing them with necessary equipment, and projects for integrating produce and livestock production which would contribute to increasing the yield of various crops.
